A Dream Deferred chronicles the extraordinary life of Ed Dwight, the first Black astronaut candidate. A man whose determination to break barriers reached from the airfields of Kansas to the edge of space itself. Raised near an airport, young Ed fell in love with the sight of planes soaring overhead. When desegregation opened the doors of the U.S. Armed Forces, he rushed to enlist as a pilot, only to face rejection after rejection, and even a ban from his local recruiting office. Undeterred, Ed wrote directly to the Pentagon, setting in motion a journey that would make history.

This modern depiction of the Gospel story enfolds as the quest to become more like Jesus is evident throughout the story telling in the counseling sessions. Talking though the therapy sessions helped Pete come to the realization that Jesus Christ is the same, Yesterday Today Forever.
